Anthropogenites

The neologism Anthropogenite denotes a self-created material, which is basically the attempt to produce men-made stones or rocks. Metamorphic rock forms normally deep down underneath the earth crust through elevated temperature and pressure. The creation of Anthropogenites is based on an imitation of these geological forces in the ceramic kiln. A compound, made from the rock-forming minerals feldspar, quartz and mica, will be mixed with different materials, such as other minerals, metals, natural stones or glass. The ready compound will be pressed and sintered in the kiln. Anthropogenites are ambassadors or time-capsules, archaeological finds for the future.
